A ONCE IN A LIFETIME CHANCE

A ONCE IN A LIFETIME CHANCE

The focus of this workshop is capturing the winter landscape unique to Montana while finding hidden locations and perspectives that have taken us years locate.

This workshop will be limited in size and for photographers who want more than just a beautiful photo. Adventurers who are looking for authentic stories and a new experience.

You will be invited to take part in a week of doing whatever it takes to find a story. Hiking, ski touring, swimming, snowmobiling, getting up before dawn and staying up past dark are the suggested activities. We live this and want to share the adventure with you. There are no workshops like this, focused on photography but created with adventures. We will not be pretending to live a life of adventure, we will live one.

We have created an opportunity to spend time with Alex and myself with only 6 students. This will ensure that each student receives individual time with mentors and has time to collaborate with the group.

This is not a course you can take online or at a university. This is a real life experience where you will learn techniques and strategy to live the life you always wanted. We will cover photography, travel, location scouting, social media, and business as subjects. We learned all this from the bottom up and will inject years of knowledge into this 6 day course.

COMMON QUESTIONS:

COMMON QUESTIONS:

What level of photography is required?

This workshop is open for everyone from beginners to professionals. The only criteria is that you have a passion for photography and have the motivation to be be on the go every day and night.

What do I need to bring?

It will be cold and snowy as we explore Montana. Temperatures will range between 50 to -10 degrees Fahrenheit. Warm and waterproof outer layers (Goretex or similar), thermals, and water resistant boots are all highly recommended. Warm gloves and beanies are a must. We will go over this in more detail once the group has been finalized.

Will I see snow?

Yes, though the amount and areas of snow are subject to weather conditions.

What is the weather like?

Winter storms will be rolling through the area of travel regularly. March temperatures can range between 50 to -10 degrees Fahrenheit. Wind and snow are likely.

What camera gear should I bring?

At the very least you should have access to your own DSLR/mirrorless camera body, a variety of lenses (both wide angle and telephoto) and a sturdy tripod. We will have group editing sessions most nights as well, so a laptop will be needed.
Will there be time to do other activities outside of the workshop?
Certainly.  We've planned the itinerary for the seven days, however you are more than welcome to extend your stay in Montana on either end (in fact, we recommend it). We can provide advice and recommend operators if you'd like to experience things like helicopter tours or visit other popular locations that we cannot fit in our timeframe.
